The quartet of participating nations comprises Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States. There is one coveted Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 spot up for grabs. The top three teams advance to WXV 1, while the fourth-place team advances to WXV 2.

This Sunday in Los Angeles, the World Rugby Pacific Four Series 2024 will see the USA and Canada start their quest to qualify for WXV 1.
The rivals from North America will kick off the tournament with a stand-alone match for the second year in a row, while the hosts will also aim to secure a spot at the Women’s Rugby World Cup in 2025.
WXV 1 in Canada this September and October will be open to the top three finishers of the Pacific Four Series 2024, which will wrap off in Australia and New Zealand between May 11–25. The team that comes last in the standings the next month will represent South Africa in WXV 2 2024.
USA finished last in the rankings after losing all three tournament games, including a 50-17 loss to Canada in Madrid.
After losing to their opponents this weekend in the RWC 2021 quarterfinals, they have only won two of their nine tests going into Sunday’s opening game at Dignity Health Sports Park. As a result of that run, they fell from seventh position in the World Rugby Women’s Rankings at the start of 2023 to ninth place, only in front of the Pacific Four Series.
Even though the drop was only two spots, the Women’s Eagles lost 4.21 rating points and during that time, the difference between them and the top five grew from 1.92 to 9.04 points.
Furthermore, the USA has not defeated Canada in the series since July 2019, during which time their North American rivals have won eight straight games. However, new USA coach Sione Fukofuka is certain his squad has what it takes to break their five-year drought against Canada after his team defeated South Africa in London last month to start his reign.
